A Karlstad, Minnesota, man is running for U.S. Congress as a Republican, challenging the seat’s Republican incumbent.

According to a press release from Hughes’ campaign, Hughes is an advocate for issues like adhering to the U.S. Constitution, lowering taxes, national security, ending abortion and repealing federal gun laws.

The 7th Congressional District includes most of western Minnesota, running from the Canadian border south to Pipestone, Murray and Cottonwood counties. Cities in the district include Moorhead, East Grand Forks, Willmar, Detroit Lakes, Alexandria, Perham and Wadena.
